Uma by COMO, Paro to launch Royal Bhutan itinerary in celebration of the anticipated visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this Spring
With Prince William and Kate Middleton set to travel to Bhutan to meet the King and Queen of the beautiful Himalayan mountain kingdom, Uma by COMO, Paro launches an exciting five- night itinerary with quintessential British influences to commemorate their first visit.
The five-night package has a relaxed pace, allowing guests to see the country’s main cultural highlights, including the remarkable Taktsang ‘Tiger’s Nest’ Monastery. There is guided hiking and a chance to get into the wilds while also visiting the capital, Thimphu, the centre of government, religion and commerce where traditional Bhutanese ways mingle with modern life.
This itinerary allows ample time to relax at the luxury lodge. The offer includes an hour-long holistic therapy at COMO Shambhala Retreat, or an optional mountain biking excursion.
For a British twist to the itinerary, Uma by COMO, Paro is collaborating with Jaques London to bring the very first exquisitely hand-crafted croquet set to Bhutan, for guests to enjoy on the pristine lawns of Uma Paro. Invented in 1851, croquet launched to immediate success and is the quintessential English pastime at many country house gardens around Britain, with the Royal Family said to love the game.
“We are excited to be sending the very first Jaques croquet game set to the land of The Thunder Dragon” says Joe J P Jaques, “letting guests play one of the most recognised games in the world in stunning Himalayan surroundings.”
As part of the itinerary, guests can indulge in a British inspired Afternoon Tea on three days during their stay. This is served in the lobby lounge in front of the Bukhari, the traditional Bhutanese fireplace.
The Royal Himalayan Discovery Itinerary is available from April to July 2016.
