MIA has three terminals, laid out in a horseshoe design. Transfers to Metropolitan Miami Beach are simple, with the 10km journey by car along Route 112, otherwise known as the Airport Expressway, taking around 25 minutes. Fort Lauderdale International Airport (www.fortlauderdaleinternationalairport.com) is a fast-growing international airport located 21 miles or 34 kilometres north of Miami, served by around 30 airlines and serving over 104 destinations. There are four terminals at the airport. Transfers to South Beach are simple with the 50km journey taking roughly 45 minutes by car. There is also a free Tri-Rail shuttle to Miami, which operates seven days a week. The airport offers parking and car rental.
