Chef Tommi Tuominen
Chef Tommi Tuominen heads two Michelin-starred restaurants (Finnjävel and Demo) out of four in the country, making him the most-starred chef in Finland – and the only one starred for serving traditional Finnish cuisine.
Finnjävel is an homage to the resilient spirit of Finnish immigrants in countrysides and cities, who keep culinary traditions alive wherever they are. It was initially supposed to be a two-year project to explore the history of Finnish food, but by the time the doors were due to shut, the restaurant had risen to a level of success that took even the owners by surprise. After deliberation, Chef Tuominen and his partners in Finnjävel Timo Linnamäki, Henri Alén and Samuil Angelov, decided to reopen the restaurant.
Finnjävel is located in Helsinki’s Helsingin Taidehalli (Kunsthalle Helsinki), an art exhibition space and landmark building, with décor by Ateljé Sotamaa to showcase and celebrate Finnish design and craftmanship.
