Located on the edge of Khao Pra Taew National Park, Phuket's last tropical rainforest, the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project provides eco-conscious travellers with the rare opportunity to experience one of Phuket’s leading wildlife conservation initiatives.
Guests are required to book directly with the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project. Our Concierge can assist with arranging transportation. Please note that the project operates on a donation-based model, and the National Park entrance fee is payable separately in cash.
Explore the world of gibbon rehabilitation in this hour-long discovery session. Learn from expert wildlife conservationists how gibbons are rescued from the hardships of the tourist industry and guided back toward a natural life in the jungle. Sessions run from 10.30am to 11.30am, 12.30pm to 1.30pm, or 2.00pm to 3.00pm.
Begin with an introduction to the Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre and the gibbons in our care. Then, take part in a hands-on activity preparing nutritious enrichment balls before having the opportunity to feed them to the gibbons using our pulley system. Observe the gibbons’ behaviour, vocalisations and movements while collecting observational data, before concluding with a discussion of your findings and a Q&A session with our team. Morning session only: 9.30am to 12.00pm.
