June 9th to 21st 2025 – Join acclaimed artist Alana Hunt at The Mark for an open studio experience. Gain insight into her creative process, enjoy insightful conversations, and join special public events.
Join Hunt as she reflects on A Very Clear Picture (2020–2023), developed during a residency with the legal team of the Kimberley Land Council, critically engaging with the Western Australia Aboriginal Heritage Act.
Shot on Super 8mm, Surveilling a Crime Scene examines how non-Indigenous life takes shape on Miriwoong Country. Layering images of power and place, Hunt reveals the quiet violence of ongoing colonisation.
In conversation with curator Hannah Matthews, Hunt reflects on her work across Australia and South Asia, and the ideas behind her upcoming PICA solo exhibition A Deceptively Simple Need, supported by the Copyright Agency.
Alana Hunt is an artist and writer whose work explores the emotional and political textures of everyday life. Her long-form projects, shaped by over a decade on Miriwoong Country, span photography, publishing, and public interventions.
Recent works include Surveilling a Crime Scene, A Very Clear Picture, and the widely published Cups of nun chai. From June 9th, Hunt will take up residence at COMO The Treasury, welcoming visitors into her open studio to engage with her process and a curated program of public events.
