COMO Metropolitan Singapore is dedicated to safeguarding the environment and enriching the communities in which we operate.

Awards

We are proud to have been certified Silver by EarthCheck, recognising our commitment to keeping our electricity consumption, water usage and greenhouse gas emissions more efficient than the regional leader .

ARRIVAL

The arrival experience at COMO Metropolitan Singapore is designed with sustainability in mind. By offering digital check-in and check-out options, we reduce paper waste while enhancing guest convenience, creating a seamless and eco-conscious first impression.

Paperless Check-in and Check-out

At COMO Metropolitan Singapore, guests have the option to pre-register prior to arrival, eliminating the need to print and sign a registration card. Additionally, we offer paperless check-out by sending invoices to guests via email. In 2024, 100 per cent of guests chose this option, saving 5,000 pages and 2,500 envelopes, and keeping 3.5 kilograms of paper waste out of landfill per month. This is the equivalent of saving one adult tree from being cut down.

IN-ROOM

Every guest room at COMO Metropolitan Singapore reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility, with energy-efficient systems, low-flow water fixtures, refillable amenities, and biodegradable in-room dining solutions that reduce waste and conserve natural resources.

Energy Efficiency

Every room is equipped with a built-in Room Control Unit which, together with motion sensors and the air-conditioning thermostat, will automatically control the room lighting and temperature according to whether the guest is present.

Lighting

Lighting in the hotel's public areas is equipped with motion sensors to optimise energy efficiency. When an area is not in use, two out of three lights will dim automatically, reducing energy consumption.

Reducing Single-Use Plastic

From 2023 onwards, we have provided refillable bottles for in-room COMO Shambhala shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion, eliminating single use 380ml plastic bottles across COMO Metropolitan Singapore. Since opening, we have used reusable glass bottles instead of single use plastic for in-room drinking water.

Water efficiency

We have low flow taps and dual flush tanks installed in all guest areas. This system has been in place since COMO Metropolitan Singapore first opened.

In-room dining

We use biodegradable plates and cutlery for our in-room dining services, offering a sustainable, hygienic, and eco-friendly alternative to plastic.

BACK OF HOUSE

Behind the scenes, we maintain robust recycling programmes and are working to eliminate single-use plastics, significantly reducing our carbon footprint and waste sent to incineration.

Recycling

We use a licensed waste collection company for responsible waste disposal, as well as recycling cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, glass, aluminium, metal materials and used cooking oils.

The total amount of recycled waste is tracked by both our team and waste collection company. In 2024, we diverted 57.5 per cent of our waste from landfill. We recycled 27,356.45 kilograms of materials, reducing approximately 19,149 kilograms of CO2e emissions, or the equivalent of planting 912 trees.

Eliminating single-use plastics

COMO Metropolitan Singapore uses reusable cloth bag covers for laundry services, instead of single-use plastic covers.

IN THE RESTAURANTS

Our restaurants champion sustainability through small yet meaningful steps from using biodegradable and FSC-certified materials to reducing the use of single-used plastics, we ensure our culinary experiences are both responsible and memorable.

Reducing plastic consumption

COMO Metropolitan Singapore uses FSC-certified paper straws to serve cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks in the Sky Bar.

Biodegradable coffee cups

Out Robot Barista coffee machine serves beverages in biodegradable cups, supporting both innovation and sustainability.

WITHIN THE HOTEL

Sustainability is integrated throughout our hotel environment. With initiatives like EV charging stations and filtered water taps at the pool, we continue to create thoughtful enhancements that support conscious living and responsible travel.

Electric Vehicle Charging

On 15 December 2024, COMO Metropolitan Singapore installed two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Guests driving electric vehicles can now enjoy seamless charging while staying or dining at the property, making green transportation even more accessible.

This initiative aligns with COMO's commitment to environmental responsibility. By enabling cleaner travel alternatives, COMO aims to support efforts in reducing carbon emissions and promoting eco-conscious living among its guests.

at the Pool

Water filtration taps are available at the pool area of COMO Metropolitan Singapore, reducing our reliance on glass-bottled water and the need for frequent supplier deliveries.
