Role:

The Hotel Manager oversees all aspects of the hotel operations including: Food & Beverage, Concierge, Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Administration, Recruitment, Team Building and Staff Development. He/she needs to possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and is required to be able to demonstrate outstanding leadership. He/she also needs to have the capacity to delegate responsibilities, organize complex projects, and establish priorities consistently with the Hotel's short and long term objectives. While taking a strategic overview and planning ahead to maximize profits, it is necessary for the Hotel Manager to also pay attention to details, setting the example for employees to deliver standard of service and presentation that meet the needs and expectations of guests, employees, and the company.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Ability to direct and control all Hotel operational, financial and sales activities ensuring adherence to the COMO Hotels and Resorts' standards, policies and procedures

  • Directly supervise the Front of House Manager, Executive Housekeeper, F&B Manager, Head Chef, on an on-going basis

  • Work closely with cluster managerial positions based at the sister property, COMO Metropolitan London; COMO Shambhala Urban Escape Manager, IT Manager, Purchasing Manager, Security Manager, Sustainability Manager, and People & Culture Manager

  • Prepare and conduct performance evaluations in accordance with Hotel policy, follow-up with and keep all management informed on all hotel matters

  • Ensure that qualified personnel are selected, hired and trained in all areas of responsibility

  • Review activities and conduct inspection tours of all areas of the property to ensure desired standards of quality, service, cleanliness and controls are maintained. The ability to direct corrective action where required

  • Make sure personnel are kept well informed of Hotel and department objectives and policies

  • Prepare annual plans and rationale for Hotel revenue and expenses; endeavor to maximize hotel and departmental profit and control costs

  • Ensure timely completion of monthly P&L reports and monthly Executive Summary

  • Contribute to the development of the Hotel's annual Sales and Marketing plan, capitalising on all areas to increase revenue and improve image

  • Ensure a proper image is being maintained by all Hotel employees with respect to service, behaviour, grooming and uniform standards

  • Support and participate in all companywide programs, policies and procedures with special emphasis to ensure that all employees are coached and trained in these matters

  • Display fair treatment of all Hotel employees, with particular respect when disciplinary or coaching action is being taken

  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety regulations, maintaining safe environment for guests

  • Champion sustainability initiatives and support the Hotel's ESG strategy, ensuring operations align with environmental, social, and governance best practices

  • Build strong relationships within the local community and business network to enhance the hotel's profile and create mutually beneficial partnerships

  • Analyse revenue and occupancy forecasts; working closely with Revenue, Reservations, Front Office and Sales to maximise occupancy, rate and revenue. Keep all departments notified of any fluctuations in business levels whilst making recommendations to these fluctuations

  • Participate in sales activities such as FamTrip and client entertainments

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with all departments of the hotel to ensure maximum cooperation, productivity, morale and guest service

  • Develop relationships with clients, return guests, etc., to provide a highly and personalised guest service

  • Attend to guest comments verbally and written in order to ensure proper attention to follow-up of all inquiries

  • Manage all on-line review platforms and ensure reviews/comments are responded to in a timely manner

  • Make suggestions for improvements in overall operations with an emphasis on increasing guest satisfaction, total Hotel revenue, whilst controlling costs

  • Support COMO Hotels and Resorts philosophy towards employee development and morale and ensure the effectiveness and promotion of this philosophy throughout the Hotel

  • Monitor, analyse and control the total Hotel payroll to ensure maximum effectiveness towards guests' services while realising full profit potential

  • Ability to display a high degree of professionalism and integrity befitting of a Hotel Manager within COMO Hotels and Resorts

  • Respond properly and take lead in any Hotel emergency or safety situation as well as ensure the proper control and instruction of said emergency procedures throughout the Hotel

Essential Attributes

  • Previous experience as a Manager in luxury hotel setting
  • Proactive in approach with self-driven attitude
  • Excellent social and communication skills
