​Overall Departmental Responsibility: Executive Housekeeper

Tasks/Responsibilities:​​

  • To assist with the daily operation of the Housekeeping & Apartments department, ensuring smooth and efficient running of allocated shifts and areas.
  • To ensure guest bedrooms, apartments, public areas and back-of-house areas are maintained to COMO and LQA standards.
  • To carry out regular room, apartment and public area inspections and follow up on issues identified.
  • To provide guidance and feedback to Supervisors and colleagues to maintain required standards.
  • To monitor the quality of work completed by contractors and specialist cleaning companies and report concerns.
  • To assist with spring cleaning, deep cleaning and other periodic cleaning programs.
  • To respond to and follow up on Housekeeping-related guest requests and complaints, escalating significant issues appropriately.
  • To lead by example and promote a positive, professional and supportive working environment.
  • To assist with the induction, training, coaching and development of Housekeeping colleagues.
  • To ensure SOPs, LQA standards and departmental procedures are understood and followed.
  • To maintain appropriate training and retraining records.
  • To support the Assistant Executive Housekeeper with performance management and development of team members.
  • To assist with the preparation of departmental rosters, taking into account occupancy, operational requirements and payroll.
  • To support daily staffing allocations and respond to changes in business levels and colleague availability.
  • To assist with the coordination and effective use of agency staff.
  • To support recruitment and onboarding activities when required.
  • To conduct regular stock counts and ensure agreed par levels are maintained.
  • To monitor the appropriate use and storage of Housekeeping supplies to minimise waste.
  • To follow procedures for the ordering, issue and return of employee uniforms.
  • To ensure guest linen is correctly handled, stored and rotated.
  • To assist with monitoring laundry and guest laundry/dry-cleaning services, reporting discrepancies where required.
  • To ensure the Lost Property procedure is followed correctly and consistently.
  • To monitor general Housekeeping presentation throughout the property.
  • To promote and maintain high standards of health and safety within the department.
  • To ensure colleagues follow relevant safety procedures and correctly use equipment and PPE.
  • To report accidents, incidents, hazards and maintenance issues promptly.
  • To assist with risk assessments, audits and compliance checks.
  • To support the Assistant Executive Housekeeper in ensuring mandatory training requirements are met.
  • To maintain clear communication with the Executive Housekeeper, Assistant Executive Housekeeper, Supervisors and other departments.
  • To attend and contribute to departmental meetings and briefings.
  • To ensure effective shift handovers and follow-up of outstanding matters.
  • To develop an understanding of departmental P&L and support cost-control measures.
  • To take responsibility for the smooth operation of the department during assigned shifts.
  • To support the Executive Housekeeper and Assistant Executive Housekeeper with departmental projects, audits and initiatives.
  • To maintain confidentiality and comply with all hotel policies, procedures and standards.
