About your host

Emma Slade is a British yoga and meditation teacher, author, and the first Western woman to be ordained as a Buddhist nun in Bhutan. A former finance professional in London, her life changed after a profound spiritual awakening that led her to the Himalayas.

Today, Slade blends Eastern wisdom with Western insight in her teachings. She is the author of Set Free, a memoir of her extraordinary journey. She shares her time between leading retreats, writing, and running her charity - Opening Your Heart to Bhutan - which is dedicated to supporting special needs children and underprivileged communities across Bhutan.

Slade has walked hundreds of kilometres across Bhutan to raise awareness and funds for Opening Your Heart to Bhutan. Guests at COMO Uma Paro will have the chance to learn more about Slade's charity efforts and how to contribute during her residency.
