Year of the Fire Horse: Be bold, fearless and free
The Lunar New Year begins in the Himalayan mountains, shaped by movement, strength and quiet resilience. At COMO Uma Paro and COMO Uma Punakha, a special experience stay package invites you to meet the year boldly, through early-morning hikes, Bhutanese rituals and restorative COMO Shambhala wellness. Grounded in tradition yet energised by movement, each journey sets a powerful tone for the year ahead.
Welcome the Lunar New Year in Bhutan with a journey of balance, tradition and renewal.
Choose between our "On the Tiger Trail" and "A Cultural Summit" all-inclusive experience packages, and mark the start of the year with intention and celebration. Days unfold as you take your path across guided Himalayan valley explorations, restorative COMO Shambhala wellness treatments, and meaningful cultural moments, from prayer flag printing to sand mandala art and festive dining with evening performances.

Go a step further on the ascent to Taktsang, the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery set high above the Paro Valley. The trail begins gently through pine forest and prayer wheels before rising into steeper terrain that asks focus and endurance. A pause at the halfway point offers rest, before the final climb rewards with one of Bhutan’s most powerful and contemplative sights.
Mark the Lunar New Year with Bhutan’s most cherished pastimes. Try archery, the national sport, guided with focus and precision, then enjoy a lighter round of traditional darts. Together, these age-old games bring families together in friendly competition and shared moments as the year begins.
