International visitors are required to travel with licensed guides, pay a daily Sustainable Development Fee supporting national conservation and community initiatives, and obtain visas, issued only after a confirmed itinerary has been approved.
COMO Uma Bhutan’s in-house reservations team acts as your destination management partner, coordinating each element of your journey with care.
Itineraries
Each itinerary is individually tailored to reflect your interests, pace and travel style. Journeys may include cultural exploration, nature experiences, wellness retreats or family-focused adventures.
Immerse yourself in Bhutan’s cultural heritage and extraordinary landscapes with our five-night ‘Himalayan Explorer’ itinerary. Combining stays at our two Bhutanese lodges – COMO Uma Paro and COMO Uma Punakha – our experienced guides will lead you through the Paro, Punakha and Thimphu valleys.
This nine-night adventure is an immersive experience of Bhutan. Spend five nights at COMO Uma Paro – our original lodge in the pine forests of the Paro Valley – and three nights at COMO Uma Punakha, an intimate escape overlooking the tropical Punakha Valley. Then take in spectacular views at growing altitudes as you hike to our wild camp, where you can spend a night among the clouds.
Our six-night itinerary in Bhutan immerses you deeply into the country’s Buddhist culture. The exploration includes four days of guided walks around the Paro Valley, as well as two days in the little-visited Punakha valley, where some of Bhutan’s most iconic temples are found.
Fully explore fundamental yogic tools of asana, pranayama and silent meditation on this five-night itinerary amidst the rolling hills of Bhutan. You will deepen your yoga practice while experiencing the beauty of Bhutan and its culture, with a mix of classes and guided trips to national landmarks and a day in Thimphu for shopping and sightseeing. This experience has been designed to balance the minds and bodies of beginner and advanced yogis alike, and is led by COMO Uma Paro’s resident yoga teacher, with the option to book extra classes if you choose.
Experienced government-licensed guides and private drivers accompany you throughout your stay, providing cultural insight, translation support and seamless access across Bhutan’s diverse regions.
Flagship Uma lodge
COMO Uma Paro is our flagship Uma lodge in Bhutan — an intimate, adventure-focused resort that sits atop a gently sloping blue pine tree-clad hill, overlooking the town of Paro. It is ideally positioned to explore the wider region accompanied by our expert English-speaking guides.
Jewel-like luxury lodge
Our smallest, most jewel-like Uma lodge sits on a small hill at the western end of the Punakha Valley above the Mo Chhu river. It seems to breathe a different air, and is ideally located for Himalayan exploration, for village treks, temples, festivals, and whitewater rafting.
Whether you're partaking in spirit-soothing ceremonies, trying your hand at Bhutan's national sport, or taking on the Himalayas on two wheels, immerse yourself in the heritage, culture and landscapes of this unique mountain kingdom.
The ride will take you through blue pine and rhododendron forests towards the Paro Valley, with views of Bhutan's second highest peak, Mt. Jhomolhari (7,314m).
Illuminate your spirit and immerse yourself in a uniquely Bhutanese custom — a traditional butter lamp ceremony. The lighting of butter lamps represents the protection from darkness in the Buddhist faith.
From routes to accommodation, every stage of your journey is thoughtfully coordinated to ensure a balanced and unhurried experience.
