In an exclusive COMO Conversation, a master jockey shares personal stories about the history, strategy and passion behind the Palio. Gain a rare glimpse into the dedication and traditions that shape this prestigious sport, such as the “Benedizione del Fantino” (or “Blessing of the Jockey”). Taking place before the race at each district’s church or oratory, this ceremony involves blessing the horse with holy water, concluding with the phrase “via e torna viccitore” (“go forth and return a winner”).
