Two Thousand Years of History

Spend your first day grounding yourself in London’s two-thousand years of history and culture, with the city’s leading museums and galleries located just a short journey from both COMO The Halkin and COMO Metropolitan London. Explore the full stretch of human history at the British Museum, or take a journey through European art history one masterpiece at a time at the newly reopened National Portrait Gallery. If modern art is more to your taste, stroll along the Southbank to take in the latest in world-leading contemporary exhibitions at the Tate Modern, or browse the city’s largest decorative arts and design collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Whichever you choose, our concierge will be able to recommend an excellent selection of nearby eateries where you will be able to pause and refresh between your visits.

After your day of cultural immersion, make your way to COMO The Halkin to enjoy a light supper and an aperitif in the Halkin Bar. Or if beverage-making, rather than just taking, is more to your style, you’ll be in good hands at Portobello Road’s The Ginstitute, sampling favourite gin cocktails and touring the blending rooms before creating your own personal gin blend under the guidance of an expert Ginstructor.

From Westminster to the West-End

No trip to London is complete without taking in its most memorable sights, and what better way to explore these historic streets than on two wheels? For the morning of your second day, our partners at Notting Hill Tours will guide you on a cycling tour of the city, taking in famous sites — such as the Houses of Parliament and Hyde Park — before pausing for refreshment at one of London’s famous street food markets, such as Borough Market in Southwark.

Following an energetic morning, you’ve earned a restful afternoon, so turn your feet towards the cobbled streets of Covent Garden, where you can browse independent shops, stalls and boutiques whilst enjoying the ever-changing programme of street performers, a tradition of the area that dates back to the 1600s. There are countless places here to stop for an excellent early evening meal or light bite, setting you up for one of London’s most enchanting evening pastimes: taking in a stage show at a historic West End theatre. Our concierge team will be on hand with recommendations of the latest shows, and can reserve your tickets in advance.
