Power Plant Electrician

Entity/Property: COMO Parrot Cay
Position: Power Plant Electrician

Base Location: Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos Islands
Department: Engineering
Reports into: Utilities Manager

Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment, including generators, transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear consistent with original equipment manufacturers (OEM) specifications & as required by equipment history.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions, including troubleshooting of control systems and power distribution.
  • Install new electrical equipment and systems, including wiring, conduit, and fixtures.
  • Upgrade existing electrical systems to enhance performance and safety.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with OEM recommendations, professional guidelines, industry standards, appropriate country regulations where applicable.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in safety training and drills.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
  • Prepare reports on electrical system performance and any issues encountered.
  • Assist in developing maintenance schedules and plans.
  • Work closely with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and operations staff to coordinate work and ensure efficient plant operations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior electricians and apprentices.
  • Respond to electrical emergencies and outages promptly to minimize downtime and ensure quick restoration of services.
  • Participate in the emergency response team, at the plant and at other areas of the hotel property which affect continuity of electrical supply to the property.

Job Requirements:

  • Associates degree or tertiary level education in electricity and electrical equipment or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a preventative and corrective maintenance senior level technician in a power plant environment.
  • Proficient in utility systems operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient practices and sustainable technologies.
  • Familiarity with standard maintenance reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with various departments and external vendors.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing a team of utility technicians and coordinating tasks efficiently.
  • Experience in budget management and cost control measures.
  • High level of Proficiency in computers and standard office software suite such as word, excel, AutoCAD, etcetera.
