Power Plant Electrician

Position: Power Plant Electrician
Base Location: Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos Islands
Department: Engineering
Reports into: Utilities Manager
Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment, including generators, transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear consistent with original equipment manufacturers (OEM) specifications & as required by equipment history.
- Diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions, including troubleshooting of control systems and power distribution.
- Install new electrical equipment and systems, including wiring, conduit, and fixtures.
- Upgrade existing electrical systems to enhance performance and safety.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with OEM recommendations, professional guidelines, industry standards, appropriate country regulations where applicable.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Participate in safety training and drills.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Prepare reports on electrical system performance and any issues encountered.
- Assist in developing maintenance schedules and plans.
- Work closely with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and operations staff to coordinate work and ensure efficient plant operations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior electricians and apprentices.
- Respond to electrical emergencies and outages promptly to minimize downtime and ensure quick restoration of services.
- Participate in the emergency response team, at the plant and at other areas of the hotel property which affect continuity of electrical supply to the property.
Job Requirements:
- Associates degree or tertiary level education in electricity and electrical equipment or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience as a preventative and corrective maintenance senior level technician in a power plant environment.
- Proficient in utility systems operations and maintenance.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient practices and sustainable technologies.
- Familiarity with standard maintenance reports.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with various departments and external vendors.
- Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven leadership skills in managing a team of utility technicians and coordinating tasks efficiently.
- Experience in budget management and cost control measures.
- High level of Proficiency in computers and standard office software suite such as word, excel, AutoCAD, etcetera.
